In this two-day workshop, students will be encouraged to explore a contemporary approach to the process of creating watercolours, whilst drawing upon traditional techniques and materials to create appealing and inventive paintings.

Draw inspiration from nature whilst learning a variety of fundamental drawing skills.

The focus of this workshop will mostly be on observing and drawing natural objects brought into the studio, with the occasional use of reference photographs. Participants will be introduced to a selection of useful drawing techniques and encouraged to experiment with a range of graphite pencils, combined with erasing and embossing to create interesting effects.

Enjoy the process of creating artist books that are uniquely yours. In this workshop we will focus on making simple folded books, each one made from one piece of paper.

This workshop offers an opportunity to gain confidence and clarity in your approach to mixing and combining colour in your artworks.

We will be working with the Double primary mixing system, which includes a cool and warm version of each of the primaries. You will get hands on experience of how this system works by mixing your own colour mixes, whilst creating valuable studio reference sheets for you to keep.

Watercolour is a wonderfully seductive, yet complex medium. This foundation course will help you to understand how watercolour works, by introducing you to methods and materials to explore watercolour painting, using nature as our inspiration. Delight in learning a surprising range of new ways to manipulate watercolour, whilst building up a set of skills to master this medium, whether you are interested in realism or abstraction.
