What my students say about the mentoring process…

  • Sharon Muir is without a doubt one of the very best teachers I have ever had. No one could have been more supportive and given so generously of their time, experience and extensive knowledge. She was able to make invaluable suggestions without steering me away from my own personal expression and style. I came away from each session feeling encouraged and motivated, acknowledged and inspired.

  • My mentoring with Sharon, as an outcome of a C.A.S.E. Inc grant, has been a very positive experience. Besides being encouraging about my artwork and practice, Sharon also provided feedback, constructive criticism, ideas, advice, and direction. Through her guidance, I introduced another medium and method into my artwork – one that I initially resisted, but did experiment with – with positive results. She also encouraged me to re-arrange my work space to better capture the light, display my artwork in progress, and truly convert it to make it my art studio. Through Sharon’s mentoring, I had the confidence to begin and complete more contemporary artworks. I would highly recommend Sharon as an art mentor.

  • I really enjoyed the creative insights and processes investigated during the one -to -one mentoring with Sharon, thanks to the C.A.S.E mentoring grant. I gained a lot from the colour theory exercises as well as learning different brushwork techniques and mark making possibilities. I am still refining my style and abilities to create a cohesive series of works, and will apply what I learnt during the mentorship to my art works and keep experimenting with different colour combinations, brushes, and mediums. Sharon went over and above during the mentorship and is a brilliant teacher and mentor.

  • When I had some private mentoring sessions with Sharon, she listened to what I was aiming for in my art and helped me to achieve it. She was very thoughtful in the way she guided me. Sharon is great at explaining artistic techniques. She does this by demonstrating different techniques with step- by- step explanations. The way she teaches is very understandable, interesting, and easy to remember. She was good at enhancing and supporting my individual style. This was really encouraging for me. Sharon is an inspiring artist and brilliant art teacher.

  • I highly recommend Sharon as a watercolour mentor. She is knowledgeable on so many aspects of painting from colour theory, paint and brush selection to composition and techniques. She has also given me very useful advice on how to set up my studio so I have an inspiring workspace in which to practice my art. Sharon has a contemporary approach to watercolour which I find refreshing and unique and this has allowed me to experiment and explore watercolour media in more depth. I have worked on my artistic projects with her continued guidance and encouragement. Sharon’s feedback is always thorough, offering constructive criticism as well as suggestions and ideas to keep me motivated.
