Ateliers Four Winds Residency
Provence, France
September 2019
The wonderful studio I was assigned for the duration of my residency
In 2019 I went to Ateliers Four Winds in the town of Aureille, in Provence for a month-long Residency. In residence at the same time was a local French artist and another Australian Artist. We had a wonderful time working in our studios and then meeting at dinner time in the communal dining room to share meals, along with stimulating conversations and swims in the pool.
My first four days were spent in Paris. During my first night in Paris, at a local night market, my phone was stolen out of my bag This meant that I was without a camera to record my residency, so I painted in my sketchbook and was also given photos from the other artists. Here is a brief visual record and account of that time.

Majestic metal feather sculptures representing the four winds.
Whilst in residence I explored creating abstracts with Gouche (opaque watercolour) and here are a few images of those works. Upon returning to Australia I resumed working with transparent watercolour. However, this work still calls me and I have yet to develop this work further.
